Serum amyloid A (SAA) is a positive acute phase reactant that is synthesized in the liver. In many species, including horse, serum levels increase significantly (>10-fold) in response to inflammation, tissue injury or disease. Life diagnostics also manufactures polyclonal (rabbit) and monoclonal antibodies that can be used for production of horse SAA immunoassays.
